WOMEN IN PATRIARCHIAL SOCIETY
Women are struggling hard to break the shackles of norms and standards set by the patriarchal society. They are still marching for equal rights and finding their rightful place in the world. Though modern society is opening opportunities for women in every field, they still have a long way to go, especially in the corporate world. The challenges of women are countless. They continue to remain underrepresented at every level. This underrepresentation gets worse in senior management positions. The salary for women is lower than the salary for men. They are underestimated. They face harassment, from verbal-visual to non-verbal or physical harassment. During child-rearing years, the unemployment penalty for women is longer in private organisations. This means that when women take longer leaves, they have a much harder time getting rehired.
